Aquinas looks to upset Melrose-Mindoro

It’s going to be a packed house between Central and Logan boys basketball teams tonight in the sectional semifinal.

The game at Onalaska High School begins at 7 p.m., but you will want to get there early.

If sitting shoulder to shoulder – or, perhaps, standing – in front of, what possibly could be 2,000 fans, isn’t your thing, you can watch the game by clicking right here or listen to the call on AM 580 WKTY.

The intra-city rivalry has lived up to all the hype so far, as the two teams split regular-season matchups. Logan (16-8) and Central (20-4), ranked No. 4 in Division 2, look to get one step closer to the Kohl Center and a WIAA state tournament berth.

Here’s what happened in the first two meetings this season …

Jan. 8: Logan 68, Central 66 – Chase Johnson scored in final seconds to win it in front of over 1,800 at the Logan fieldhouse.

Feb. 11: Central 83, Logan 76 – UW commit Kobe King led the Red Raiders with 33 points in front of 1,500 fans at the Mark Sutton Memorial Gym.

ON 1410 WIZM: Over on AM 1410 WIZM, we’ll have a Division 4 matchup between No. 2-ranked and undefeated Melrose-Mindoro (24-0) and Aquinas (13-11) at Logan H.S.

OTHER WIAA SECTIOALS (all games at 7 p.m.)–Division 3: G-E-T vs. Black River Falls at Osseo, Prairie du Chien vs. Lodi at Richland Center. Division 5: Bangor vs. Hillsboro at Central.
