The theme for the area’s girls in Division 2 Track And Field Championships could be “repeat offenders” or “defenders” in the case of Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School’s Annalese Lamke.

The sophomore could make her home atop the podium at Veteran’s Memorial Complex after a state championship in the shot put (41 feet, 3 inches) on Friday.

Saturday, she was up there again, with a third-place finish in the discus (120-0). Sheboygan Falls senior Genevieve Gates won the disc (126-8).

Lamke came in fifth in the shot last year.

Continuing the theme, when Jaali Parrish’s career is all said and done, she should be quite used to the podium at the WIAA State Track and Field Championships.

The sophomore was on the podium three times. She finished second in the 200 in 25.74 seconds, fifth in the 100 (12.8) and fifth in the 400 (58.49).

Parrish finished .17 seconds behind 200 champion Osceola junior Aimee Rice-Strand.

Parrish’s teammate, Lyssa Veres, a senior, finished fourth in the pole vault (10-feet) and sixth in the 100 hurdles (15.72).

Arcadia’s Samantha Hoesley, Eve Kramer, Grace Backes and Hillary Filla finished the runners-up in the 800 relay (1:45.23), just .08 seconds from a state championship. Lakeside Lutheran won it in 1:45.15.
