He’s up for the highest honor for Minnesota high school football.

Caledonia’s Owen King is one of 11 finalists for Mr. Football.

The senior, who actually just signed a letter of intent to play basketball at South Dakota State, has 2,378 yards, 37 touchdowns and 4 interceptions this season. He’s 166 of 283 (58.6 percent). On top of that, King has 158 yards rushing and nine touchdowns.

He and the Warriors are an undefeated 39-0 with King at QB. King has Caledonia (11-0) well on its way to a third consecutive state title. At 2 p.m. Thursday, the Warriors play Paynesville (9-2) in an Class 2A semifinal at U.S. Bank Stadium. Listen to the game here on Classic Hits 94.7 by clicking LISTEN LIVE.

Last season, Caledonia defeated Eden Valley-Watkins 61-12 at U.S. Bank Stadium. In King’s sophomore season, the Warriors defeated Ottertail Central 40-0 at TCF Bank Stadium. 

In his three seasons starting, King is 495 of 798 passes (62%) for 7,673 yards, 129 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

The Minnesota Football Coaches Association award will be presented on Dec. 5.

Other finalists: Ronald Audette (Elk River), Ty Barron (Minnetonka), Michael Empting (Alexandria), Isaac Hennen (Minneota), Preston Jelen (Prior Lake), Conner Knoepfle (Andover), Carter Kopet (Cleveland), Antonio Montero (Eden Prairie), Spencer Rolland (Apple Valley) and Brevyn Spann-Ford (St. Cloud Tech.).
