GREEN BAY, Wis. – Fans used to call him KGB. It might be hard to believe, but Kabeer Gbaja Biamila is the Green Bay Packers all-time leader in sacks.

The defensive end from 2000-2008 finished his career with 74.5 – twice finishing the season with 13.5.

The record, however, might not stand. Clay Matthews is a half sack away from breaking KGB’s record.

Matthews told Packers.com about his first NFL sack and, oddly enough, it was against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“Yeah, Cincinnati. Carson Palmer, spin move, and I wasn’t supposed to,” he said. “I was supposed to stay on the outside, but I got it anyways.”

The story comes from Week 2 of 2009 when Matthews was a rookie – the year after KGB retired.

Matthews had double-digit sacks (10) his rookie season and four times in his career, though he had just 11.5 the last two seasons.

“I go back to his rookie year,” McCarthy said. “He’s a No. 1 draft pick, and every meeting, whether it was rookie orientation or any type of seminar, Clay always sat in the front row. I think that speaks volumes about his approach and how he goes about it.”
